Re-roofs and new roofs

A new roof is only as good as what goes under the tiles. The old tiles and felt come off, new breathable membrane and battens go on, then new tiles or slate from the eaves up, finished at the ridge. Recent jobs: a full re-roof on a St Albans terrace in new red tiles, and a slate roof in Watford. In Stevenage, a re-slated roof beside a chimney. In Hertford, new membrane, battens and brown tiles.

Roof repairs

Slipped and cracked tiles and slates replaced, leaks traced to where the water really gets in, storm-damaged flashing put right, cracked ridge mortar re-bedded and moss cleared off the roof before it blocks the gutters.

Flat roofs

Flat roofs on extensions, garages, dormers and porches stripped back, re-decked where the boards have gone, and finished in felt, GRP fibreglass, EPDM rubber or single-ply. Recent work includes a flat roof in Hemel Hempstead, before and after.

Chimneys and leadwork

Chimney stacks repointed and rebuilt, flaunching renewed round the pots, and new lead flashings, soakers and valleys dressed in so the water stays out where the roof meets the brickwork.

Guttering, fascias and soffits

Guttering is in the name for a reason. New uPVC gutters and downpipes, leaking joints and broken brackets put right, blocked gutters cleared, and rotten timber fascias and soffits replaced in uPVC.
