Hemel Hempstead was designated a new town in 1947, and most of it went up through the 1950s and 60s in planned neighbourhoods such as Adeyfield, Bennetts End, Chaulden, Gadebridge, Warners End and Highfield, with Grovehill and Woodhall Farm following on.
