Roofers in Hoddesdon for the High Street, Rye Park and the Lea Valley
Roofers in Hoddesdon for the older buildings along the High Street, the terraces and semis of Rye Park and the estates out towards the Lea Valley. Ring 07310 120341 and Kieran comes out, explains the options and leaves you a free written quote.
Hoddesdon was a market town on the old road north from London towards Ware and Cambridge, and the High Street around the clock tower still has its Georgian frontages and old coaching inns. Off it, the roads run through Victorian and Edwardian terraces, then inter-war semis, then the housing of Rye Park stretching east towards the River Lea and Rye House.
Most of Hoddesdon's homes are 20th century: brick semis and terraces under concrete or clay tile, many with a flat-roofed extension, garage or dormer added since. The pitched roofs need ridge and verge work, slipped tile repairs and, after 60 or 70 years, new felt. The flat roofs fail sooner: a single layer of felt lasts 10 to 20 years before it blisters and splits.
Gutters are the other big job. Leaves and moss fill them every autumn, water spills over the fascia and the timber rots behind it. Kieran clears and repairs gutters, and replaces rotten fascias and soffits in uPVC with new guttering as one job.

Hoddesdon questions
My flat roof extension is leaking. Repair or replace?
If the leak is one split or a failed edge, repair it. If the felt is blistered all over or the deck feels soft underfoot, replace it: strip to the joists, new deck, and a new covering in felt, GRP or EPDM rubber. Kieran shows you which before quoting.
Do you work on the older buildings along the High Street?
Yes. Clay tiles, slate and lead are matched to what is there, and chimneys are repointed or rebuilt to the original detail.
Do you cover Broxbourne and Wormley?
Yes, along with Rye Park, Great Amwell, Stanstead Abbotts and the villages around Hoddesdon.
Which flat roof material lasts longest?
GRP fibreglass and EPDM rubber both outlast single-layer felt by a long way. Felt costs less to lay. Kieran tells you what suits your roof and budget.
Do you replace gutters and fascias together?
Yes. When the fascia has rotted, new uPVC fascias, soffits and gutters go on in one visit rather than two.
