Fascias are the boards along the bottom edge of the roof that carry the gutters. Soffits close the gap underneath. Timber ones rot, the paint peels, and once a fascia goes soft the gutter brackets pull out and the water runs down the wall instead.
We strip the old timber, check the rafter ends behind it, and fit new uPVC fascias, soffits and bargeboards, with new gutters and downpipes in the same job. uPVC needs no painting and wipes clean.
The 1950s and 60s houses on the Stevenage and Hemel Hempstead estates were built with timber fascias, soffits and bargeboards. Where that timber is still up, it needs painting every few years or it rots. Doing the roofline with a re-roof or new guttering saves money, because the access is already there.
