Roofers in Hertford, from the old town centre to Bengeo and Sele Farm
Roofers in Hertford for the old roofs of the county town's centre, the Victorian streets of Bengeo and the post-war houses of Sele Farm. Ring 07310 120341 and Kieran comes out, talks you through the options and gives you a free written quote.
Hertford is the county town, and its centre keeps its old street pattern around Fore Street, Maidenhead Street and Parliament Square, with the castle grounds beside the River Lea. Most of the centre is a conservation area, full of timber-framed and Georgian buildings under old clay tiles and slate, with steep pitches and big chimneys.
Bengeo, on the hill north of the town, has streets of Victorian and Edwardian houses in slate and clay tile. Sele Farm was built after the war as one of the town's council estates, and the newer houses round the edges are concrete tile. The old roofs need matching tiles, lead and chimney work; the post-war ones need felt, battens and ridges that have reached the end of their life.
Kieran's Hertford job on his Instagram shows a new roof in the order it goes on: new membrane and battens first, then the finished brown tiles and ridge. The membrane keeps water out if a tile ever slips, the battens set the gauge so every course lines up, and the ridge closes the top. Every new roof comes with a 20-year guarantee.

Hertford questions
Can you work on old buildings in Hertford town centre?
Yes. In the conservation area Kieran matches what is there: clay tiles, slate, lead and chimney details. If the building is listed, he talks you through consent before anything is booked.
What colour tiles can I have on a new roof?
Concrete or clay tiles in reds, browns and greys, or natural slate. Kieran tells you what suits the house and what the rest of the street has, so the new roof looks right.
Do you cover Ware and Hertford Heath?
Yes, along with Bengeo, Hertingfordbury, Brickendon, Bayford and the villages around Hertford.
Do you repair chimneys in Hertford's old centre?
Yes: repointing, new flaunching, new lead flashing and rebuilds from the roofline up, in matching brick where the stack shows from the street.
Can I get a written quote before deciding?
Yes. Every quote is free and in writing, with no obligation and no call-out fee.

Highly recommend! Had an issue with my roof flashing after a storm, he was very quick to come out and have a look/quote. Work was carried out the following week and a further issue was found after work started, was very generous in supporting me with the added cost!
